Tuatara® Diagnostics designs and develops innovative molecular diagnostic assays in the fields of infectious diseases and genetics.
The company was founded by Gijs Dingemans in the Netherlands in 2022.
Gijs is a scientist in molecular biology with 15 years of broad experience in the In-Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) market.
He previously worked as a senior scientist, a project leader and a technical director, and had responsibilities in quality, business, and sales. His work led to the development of multiple technology platforms and molecular diagnostic products, from notion on a blackboard, to their successful launch onto the market.
Gijs started this company to substantialize a vision for the future of diagnostics.
Tuatara
Tuatara® Diagnostics lends its name from the extraordinary lizard-like creature native to New Zealand. It is the only member of a lineage over 250 million years old. The Tuatara has the largest genome (~5 Gb) of vertegrateds yet known, showing incredible features such as innovations in genes that are associated with immunity, thermal regulation and other survival techniques, with evidence of recent changes i.e. evolution during one lifetime, as opposed to only slow changes through generations of time.
In a changing world over millions of years, the Tuatara survived like no other creature has, through genetic adaptation.
Tuatara® Diagnostics has a team of experts and advisors in general medical- and specific scientific fields. We are supported by exceptional financial advisors and work closely with business developers from Brainport Development (The Gate).
